THE ART
My jewelry designs are fasioned using precious and semi-precious stones, natural crystals, Dichroic glass, Fresh-water Pearls, and variety of stone, art glass, and crystal beads, as well as fine metals: Sterling, Fine and Argentium Silver, 14K Gold and 14K Rolled Gold.
Most of my wire designs are one-of-a-kind pieces. The stones we use are all handpicked and each is different. The stones are selected based on their beautiful colors, unusual shapes, and interesting patterns and textures. My designs are inspired by the beauty of each stone and aim to reflect its uniqueness.
My hand crafted chain designs are based on centuries old chain-making techniques with added designer twists.
Most chain jewelry can be custom ordered in a variety of different sizes, colors, and materials.
THE ARTISTS
KK Jewelry was started in 2001 by Kaska and Kat , a mother-daughter team.
KASKA FIROR: Kaska has been involved in various arts all her life. She graduated from the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Interior Design. Later she pursued her interest in the arts by taking up clay sculpture, stained glass, and eventually wire art.
Kaska has been designing and creating wire-crafted jewelry since summer of 2000, when she took her first instruction in that medium from a Colorado based artist. Since then she has continued her education in jewelry arts by attending William Holland School Of Lapidary Arts in Georgia, as well as taking classes provided by local and visiting artists.
Kaska lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband, Tom.
KAT FIROR: Kat has been making jewelry since she was five years old. In recent years she has attended William Holland School of Lapidary Arts several times deepening her knowledge of jewelry arts and sharpening her skills in stringing and seed beading.
At present, Kat is a senior at an Art School learning to be an illustrator. Since starting college, due to time constraints, Kat had to scale down her participation with KK and jewelry design.
She is still involved as an adviser, and for an occasional design consultation. However, for the time being she will not be offering any of her designs for sale.
